The former Spice Girl shared her emotional journey with her fans when she wrote a letter to her 18-year-old self in January 2017, and now, she's written a letter to her future self.
Victoria Beckham, the popstar turned entrepreneur, has a lot on her mind. The 46-year-old powerhouse has managed to transform herself from her Posh Spice image into a classic beauty icon, and it has been quite a journey for her. She shared her emotional journey with her fans when she wrote a letter to her 18-year-old self in January 2017, and now, she's written a letter to her future self.
In the letter, she revealed the crucial moment she realized that she has to leave her famed band Spice Girls to find the thing she loves. She mentioned the time she saw Elton John perform, and realized that she's not doing what she wants, she wrote in Vogue.
"Remember years ago," she began, "watching your dear friend Elton John on stage in Las Vegas. He performed 'Tiny Dancer,' as if it were the first time, and you realized this was like oxygen for him."
"It was a life-changing moment—while singing and dancing was fun for you, it wasn't your passion," she confessed. "That day, you started your quest to uncover your own dreams. It was time to step away from being a Spice Girl. For the first time, you were venturing out on your own, and it was terrifying," she said.
Back then, "it was scary to close a chapter that defined" her, she said, and in time, she proved herself as a businesswoman. She acknowledges the many risks she has taken and how it's a process.
She explained to her future self, "I know you are still reinventing yourself, taking on new challenges, and ignoring the naysayers. You always look beyond the conventional wisdom to pave your own path. First, you found this passion in fashion, and most recently, beauty. What comes next? I'm dying to know." She added, "Keep up the juggling act. It's never easy but tremendously rewarding–a privilege."
She also writes about how she used the lockdown to look good since she likes to "surprise people – especially David. Preserving that bit of mystique is always helpful after almost 22 years of marriage. (What anniversary are you celebrating now?)"
Victoria and David Beckham celebrated their 21st anniversary in July 2020. Their relationship has stood the test of time and they are still going strong. The fashionista's famous soccer player husband has not been afraid to have a strong woman by his side all these years. "I can’t believe it has been 21 years since we said, 'I do.' Four children, four dogs, so much laughter, and I love you more each day," Victoria wrote to David on their anniversary on Instagram, as per Harper's Bazaar.
David also marked the day on social media writing, "Well about 23 years ago I was sat in a room with Gary Neville and the spice girls were on the TV and I turned around to him and said 'ohhhh I like that one in the little black catsuit' 😄 who would have thought that all these years later we are celebrating 21 years of marriage and have 4 of the most beautiful and perfect kids. Thank you & Happy Anniversary I Love You ♥️ @victoriabeckham."
They have been through difficult times, including struggling through their son Romeo's condition. When their second child was four, they had to make many trips to the hospital while being surrounded by paparazzi, whose camera flashes were triggering attacks of epilepsy. It was a life-threatening situation for him and eventually, the photographers agreed to never use flash photography around Romeo.
Now, the couple is gearing up for their eldest son's wedding. Brooklyn, 21, is engaged to his actress fiancée Nicola Peltz, 26, as per Daily Mail. Recently, he wished her on her birthday and wrote, "Happy birthday baby x I can not tell you how much I love you. You make me a better man and the happiest man in the world x I am so lucky to be able to spend the rest of my life with you and create so many memories."
