Life is unpredictable, and for better or for worse, you never know what's in store.
Twenty-five-year-old Brianna Lee and her husband Jesse, 26, were elated to become parents for the second time. Just weeks later, Jesse, a cop, was grieving the loss of his wife who died suddenly.
Brianna died on January 16, 2022, less than two weeks after welcoming the couple's second child, a daughter named Amelia, according to 11 Alive.
"Brianna Lee leaves behind her husband and their two beautiful children. William Lee is their firstborn," reads a message on a GoFundMe page that was set up on behalf of their family. "[He] is the cutest kid you'll ever meet."
Brianna's sudden death was caused due to a brain injury. "I don't know what happened to her," Jesse, a Canton police officer said, adding that she was "perfectly fine an hour before that happened."
"What happened was catastrophic," added Domenick Marotta, a police department colleague. "It was completely unexpected."
Brianna and Jesse's love story spanned almost a decade, out of which they were married for five. Jesse first fell for Brianna when he saw her in high school, crying outside her class. "Later on that evening I sent her a message saying I'm here if you need anything. The rest is history," he recalled.
It wasn't easy being together after high school as Jesse was in the Marine Corps and kept moving from place to place. But Brianna always went along with him. Without the love of his life and the mother of his two children, Jesse is beyond devastated.
"I don't know what I'm going to do without her," he said, adding that his only source of relief comes from the fact that Brianna had at least some time to spend with their daughter before she passed.
"I'm just thankful that she was able to spend at least a week with her. She was the happiest that I'd ever seen her, at least in a long time," he added.
"During these trying times, we know it takes a village to raise a family," reads a message on the fundraising page. "We need all the support and prayers for his family as they continue their journey trying to learn this new environment."
"There is no doubt the struggle will not end with just raising money," the message continued, "but it's a kick start to one thing this family would not have to worry about at the moment."
