A woman in Pennsylvania, who was allegedly being held captive against her will, has been rescued after she left notes in public restrooms pleading for help, reports ABC News. The first note was found on Thursday, July 8, in a Walmart in Carnegie, Pennsylvania, according to TODAY.
Police said the woman wrote she was being sexually and physically assaulted by 38-year-old Corey Brewer. The woman said she was being held against her will, urged any readers to call 911, included an address, and warned that the man had a knife, according to a criminal complaint.
First of all, this is horrific. And how does a KIDNAPPER get released on $500 bail?

Second of all, I really think @washingtonpost needs to make it VERY clear this is NOT NBA small forward Corey Brewer.https://t.co/cQ8VcHs00w
“If I don’t make it, tell my family I love them,” the woman wrote in one of her notes. Immediately, police went to the address written on the note and knocked on the door multiple times. Despite being able to hear furniture being moved around inside, no one answered the door.
The cops called Brewer on his mobile and asked to speak to the victim directly, but he allegedly told the officers he wouldn't take her off speakerphone, the complaint said. He told the cops he was on vacation with the victim in New York, and then, when he put her on speaker, she said she was with her boyfriend. However, the alleged victim's ex told police she and Brewer were in a relationship, but she filed a protection from abuse order against Brewer in August 2020.
The order expired one month later.
I read about this and couldn’t believe the bail either?!! pic.twitter.com/UBmE7HuZ1n

Two days since the first note, another note was discovered, this time stuck to a mirror in a women's restroom at the Fallingwater museum and landmark in western Pennsylvania, the complaint said. CCTV footage from Fallingwater showed Brewer and the alleged victim there.
"The note states that she has been held since May 1, 2021 at Spreading Oak Drive and that they were not on vacation," according to the complaint. "It states that she heard the police knocking at the residence, that the abuse hasn't stopped, and please don't give up." This note prompted authorities to return to the address with the SWAT team. They managed to rescue the woman and take Brewer into custody.
This is disgusting- how does someone who literally has a restraining order on him, was arrested by police and whose victim was rescued by police even get bail? This judge needs to taken off the bench.

The woman told police Brewer confiscated her phone and she wasn't able to escape. She then revealed that Brewer sexually assaulted her, and also punched and strangled her numerous times. Per the complaint, she claimed Brewer also threatened to kill her and her children if she tried to leave. He also allegedly took nude photos of the victim against her will, and used a knife to cut her foot.
Authorities have not released the victim's name or details of the condition in which she was found. The suspect was charged with sexual assault, strangulation, and unlawful restraint.
According to Washington Post, Brewer posted $500 bail and was released from jail. His attorney did not return a request to comment and a preliminary court hearing was set for July 22.
