"I now pronounce you husband and wife," is a sentence that marks the beginning of a new chapter in a person's life. To reach this phase, a person has to search high and low to find someone they can call "the one". Sometimes the quest for finding the right one becomes a life-long journey just like that of the woman in this story.
Even though she has been married 10 times, unfortunately, she hasn't found "the one" yet and doesn't mind continuing her search until she does. On the verge of her 10th divorce, Cassey is determined to find her man no matter what.
The 56-year-old woman who says, “I don’t know why I’ve been married 10 times,” has tied the knot with almost all types of men. From a rocker to her high school sweetheart and a preacher, she's experienced it all but somehow she finally ends up alone, as reported by Dr. Phil. While her longest marriage had been for 8 years, her shortest lasted only for six months.
Cassey appeared on Dr. Phil to get some relationship advice, troubled by the fact that even after so many marriages, she feels alone. When Dr. Phil confirmed with her if she really married 10 times, she replied with a "yes," to which Dr.Phil further asked, "When you say that, you kind of say it with pride. Has it got to the point where you just laugh about it?"
Even though the businesswoman looked okay answering the question initially, you can clearly see the pain of not finding that one person with whom she can share her love and sorrows, in her eyes. She replied, "It's got to the point where I'm either going to laugh or cry about it. Sometimes I do both."
Tearing up, with her voice breaking a little, Cassey continued, "I don't find it funny, and I don't find it nonchalant by any stretch of the imagination."
A person who's been in a similar situation can understand the inner turmoil that a person goes through when relationships don't work out the way one hoped they would. Such instances force people to think of themselves less than their partner or blame themselves, which is never true. But through her experience, Cassey has learned to identify where the fault lies.
"When I’m in a marriage and I just can’t take it anymore, I’m usually the first one to say, ‘That’s it; we’re getting a divorce, and I quit,'" she added.
The Mirror revealed that Cassey's first marriage lasted eight years before it ended on mutual terms. The second one lasted for seven years. During the seven years, the pair were engaged for two and a half years and welcomed a son together. However, as soon they cemented their marriage with holy matrimony, problems started surfacing in their happy world.
The man who was once affectionate and considerate towards Cassey wouldn't even tell her that he loved her. When she did say "I love you" to him, he would reply "Ditto." Listening to her grief of being in a sad relationship for 8 years, Dr. Phil asked her, "You didn't see any red flags in two and a half years?" to which she said no.
As Dr.Phil passed through each and every phase with her husbands of the past where she was left wanting for more emotional, spiritual, intimate, and physical connection, Cassey revealed that she is thinking of divorcing her current husband as well because he has dubbed her a "control freak."
Her past has only made her determination to find her dream man stronger. There's no age limit to when you can find the person you love above everything else and Cassey doesn't mind investing her mind and soul in it.
"I don’t care how many marriages it takes; I will keep trying until I find the one that can love me," she said.
